Digital Entanglements. A Personal Meditation on Practice Based Research.

Annette Jael Lehmann has studied Comparative Literature, Art History, American Studies and Philosophie in Berlin, Oxford and Berkeley and received her Ph.D. in comparative literature and aesthetics at the Freie Universität Berlin. She was visiting assistant professor at the Humanities Devision at the University of California (UCLA), at the School of Critical Studies, California Institutes of the Arts (CalArts) and the School of Arts, Letters and Sciences (USC)(1995-1998). Returning to Berlin she was Assistant Research Professor at the DFG-Collaborative Research Centre SFB 447: “Kulturen des Performativen“ (1999-2005) and obtained her habilitation in Visual Culture at the Freie Universität Berlin (2005). Also she was executive manager of the “Zentrum für Interdisziplinäre Kunstwissenschaften und Ästhetik” (2006). Since 2007 she is Professor of Contemporary Art, Visual Culture and Theater at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany. PI Einstein Center Digital Future (ECDF) Berlin since 2017. In 2018 she became PR at the Excellence Cluster Temporal Communites – Doing Literature in a Global Perspective (EXC 2020), Freie Universität Berlin.
